During our Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations, on March 12th, third class participated in a circus trick workshop as Gaeilge. We had great spraoi juggling, spinning plates and hula hooping!
On March 13th, third class took part in a Caife Gaelach in the halla. We asked each other questions as Gaeilge, ate some brioscai and drank some juice! Bhí an spraoi againn!
On the 26th of March, third class participated in a blitz at Pairc Uí Chaoimh. The boys and girls teams performed excellently and represented the school in their usual fantastic manner. The day also included a behind the scenes tour of Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
On April 8th, third class along with other classes in our school competed in a blitz in Passage GAA. We were joined by classes from Monkstown and had a wonderful day playing hurling, camogie and Gaelic football. Thank you to John and Ruairi for organising this great event.
When term three started at the very end of April, Mr. Dowlings third class began coding lessons using the hour of code website. We will be learning to code through Minecraft and Disney focused tutorials. We will even create coding for our own version of flappy bird.
When the sun's out, we're out too. As the temperatures started to climb Mr. Dowling's third class took our daily reading time outside. We also started soccer drills and matches in the soccer club's Astro pitch beside our school.
On May 16th, Ms. Ruti Lachs visited Mr. Dowling's third class as part of the Heritage in Schools project. She brought many instruments to help the children to explore Eastern European and Jewish music. The children had great fun creating their own piece of music.
In early May, Mr. Dowling's third class completed the clay strand of our Art curriculum. The children created pinch pots, coil pots and their own creations too. Then, we painted our clay pots. The results were stunning. Unfortunately, the new clay we used became very dry and brittle so some creations crumbled but everyone's effort was A+.
On the 22nd of May, third class were invited to St. Peter's secondary school to partake in the Transition Year Safety Week. It was attended by Cork Fire Brigade with a fire engine and a really cool robot. Members of the coast guard arrived in their helicopter based in Waterford. The children were allowed to ask loads of questions and to board the fire engine and helicopter. Thank you St. Peter's!
On May 28th, third class went on their school tour to the Let's Go School Tour centre in Nemo GAA in Douglas. The children really enjoyed trying out all the different activities. It was a great day and the children were complimented on their wonderful behaviour by the camp leaders.
On June 19th, Mr. Dowling's third class visited the playground and park in Passage West. We had great fun in the sun and finished the day with some yummy ice creams!
