Star of the Sea Primary School Parents’ Association

The Parents’ Association is an essential and vibrant part of the school community. The Parents’ Association, in a wider sense, involves all parents of the school but a committee act on their behalf and become the “voice”. The committee consists of parents who volunteer their time and effort to work in partnership with the Principal, Board of Management and the whole school community for the betterment of the children in the school and to support and empower parents to be active in the best interests of their children’s educational lives. Research has shown that children do better, behave better and are happier at school when parents and teachers work closely together and when parents are able to give their children support at home.

The Parents’ Association are appealing for members. In the absence of an opportunity to hold an AGM due to Covid 19 restrictions, the current PA members are suggesting that each class stream is represented on the PA committee by two parents of that class e.g. 2 parents representing 6th classes, 2 for the 5th classes etc. Officers – chairperson, secretary and treasurer will then be appointed from this group. If you are interested in volunteering for the Parents’ Association committee, please contact the school office 021 4842072 or email office@staroftheseapw.ie. We look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Deirdre Hurley Caroline Harper.
